Session 1

Exposition

Since Campaign 1, the Calamity of Forge, the Dragon Empire experienced only a small peace, for a year and change. All the extant demons vying for control have shrunk back, no longer powered by the Iconic force The Diabolist wielded: Utoplenna, Ballos, Sparagmos, Kavralmus. Her relics – the Arm, the Eye, the Heart, the Horn, and etc. – have gone dormant, whisked away by the Icons. Two years since, and the oceans churn, boiling with the might of the Deepwater Emisarries, monsters descend from beyond the sky, heralding the Outer Sphere Contingent. The nomadic Outlander Blue Mags resettle, and whispers tell of the Fiendeater from their ranks. The Court of Star wages outright war with The Three over claim of the Overworld, leading to the killing of Ksarash and the freeing of Utoplenna. Two new Icons have risen: The Factory, and The Seculars.

The party has been tasked with an expedition to Pearl Gate, an aberrant hellhole on periphery of the Empire, tucked in the Northeastern badlands between Moonwreck and The Frost Range. Both The Crusader and The Factory have some interest in Pearl Gate. There’s an artifact there The Seculars want as well. You’re to beat the other two to the punch, plunder the place, and leave it before it collapses.

You’ll convene in the shadow of the Northern Colusses, and meet with your contact, provided by The Seculars, an arcanist well-versed in breaching dimensional walls.
